Funny- I've been pondering about the same question! I'm a sailor myself, but have limited seatime on the Tallships. Yet I am intrigued by the tallships and consider them to be beautiful and fascinating symbols of human endeavors and how the world became connected trans-continental.

I agree Hal, the internet and Google combined have literally opened for a world of knowledge about ....philately!
I am confident that this indeed was the main intention of the creation of these 'assets' all along - simply to benefit stamp collectors
