If you are really serious about learning more about this you ought to take out a membership in the United States Specialist. This year they have been running an excellent series of articles on private perforations. Of course if you wait a couple of years you can read this for free, By the way, that is a beautiful collection - I am green with envy!

Belasco's book is the Bible for vending and affixing coils (as far as I know). Examples of V&A coils are shown in the first 3 photos you posted. Many of those issues are frequently faked and his book talks about traits and measurements for determining authenticity. The book also has history and info on all the major companies involved. I got mine at a stamp show, so I'm not sure where to buy it normally, but here is a link to the Amazon listing so you know what to look for. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/0930412303...KP9zbAKXEABGUSSS (US Stamp Society) is another great source, as Peter mentioned. You have some lovely stamps! |

Quote: Of course if you wait a couple of years you can read this for free, You still have to be a member of the USSS to access the digital archives. Quote: so I'm not sure where to buy it normally The book can be purchased directly from the USSS at a discount with your membership. It is an excellent reference and well worth the money. Have fun on your new adventure, don't hesitate to ask questions on this forum. |

I think evertbody has put you on the right track. If you bought these on ebay, who was the seller? |

Winston - If memory serves me correctly it was one of Philip Ryles accounts. I distinctly remember viewing this lot. The William A Fox lot card caught my attention. |

That's exactly what I was thinking. If this new SCF member is not another Cartel troll, he should probably start thinking very carefully about making a return and securing a refund. |

It would be a good idea to seek advice here on how to make the return. I have used Fedex in the past. I think that may be the only good option. Others may have better advice. |

If these were recently purchased, genuine or not, I'd think they sold for a pretty penny. Hard to believe the OP, if the purchaser, would spent the money not knowing anything about private perfs. Certainly possible, but illogical to me. If the OP owns them, then Belasco's book and George Howard's book, along with StampSmarter.com and publications from the USSS, are the places to start learning. |

sinclair2010 --> I'm not sure what you mean by making a return and securing a refund?
Al E. Gator --> I was given/inherited quite a bit. Unfortunately there are items with no auction paperwork or information.
Overall I appreciate the advice and information from everyone. |

I thought you purchased them. You could have eliminated the mystery by saying how and when you got them. Did you get them last week?

Ah I see, at any rate I did not just get it last week although I did have a few reputable auction houses looking at items for consignment last week.
rogdcam -> I have stacks of items like that all in original auction packages same as the one you mentioned all purchased from 30 to 50 years ago.

Oh! It is getting much clearer now! I am glad you didn't object to being called a possible troll . You probably should have asked about these stamps while you visited auction firms. |
