another sideline I play around with is French Africa used stamps..the mint ones beautiful as they are that were sold to the approval houses in the 1940's are still a dime a dozen. The used ones do not catalog much either..but are harder to find !
Swabbie I remember the drab stamps they used to send 500 for 10 cents and then they put an approval sheet in with these beautiful colorful African colonies..but they wanted 2 and 3 cents apiece..thats a lot when you are making 35 cents a week..that was for the saturday matinee movie and 2 boxes of candy..usually Old Crows and Necco wafers...i am paying for them now at the dentist !!
Gee guys your making me feel like a baby again I remember when gas hit $1.oo I was in the 5th grade then.Here are 3 stamps I found when I saw this post,the stamp of Phil's looked familiar to me
