Trying to decide which I have: Scott shows both as perf 12 x 12-1/2, both wmk 290, both engraved, but 340 as "redrawn" with no explanation as to the meaning of "redrawn".

Stamp World images show 340 as sharper than 308, but this may just be the reflecting the image quality.

Any suggestions on how to differentiate the two will be appreciated.

Donald

Hi, In Sc.340 the re-drawn stamp has the "Ceylon" in the rectangle extending past the top of the pointed roof of the temple.Also the
lower rectangle in the middle extends a bit more too the left.That's
at least the differences I could make out.
redrawn;

normal stamp:

The first issue has the name "Ceylon" in large letters across the top of the stamp; the second (illustrated above) does not.

Yes, Floortrader. I have a copy of the stamps in the left column, with the English word "Ceylon" at the top. Since they match Scott design A80, I assume these two illustrations represent Scott 308

Thanks,
Donald

Yes, they were redrawn after Ceylon became a Dominion.
