I got the worlds Biggest stamp collection -------OK, you just spilled your morning coffee or fell out of your chair reading this . A few of you are already got your underwear on too tight and want to tell me where to go . First we need to define biggest . Do I have the most expensive worldwide collection ----NO! Do I have the most different worldwide stamps . NO! Then how can I make that claim ???? I believe no worldwide collector has ever try to get more stamps from more different places both regular issues and all those Cinderella fantasy places that are considered wallpaper by most of us . So to put this in a clearer statement ,the largest of different places . Today I added these stamps to a new album page in my collection ,always a special day when I add a new place . These from North Sumatra locals {type 2 } *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Floortrader you are definitely an inspiration for me as someone who wants to collect the World with no limits other than what you personally choose.
And those N Sumatra local provisionals are nice. I believe they are listed in the Prangko Indonesia specialized catalog, as well as the Dai Nippon catalog published in the Netherlands for Japanese Occupation and Indonesian Revolution era issues. Wonderful stuff! |

There used to be a stamp dealer out of Louisville, KY who told me had had a virtualy complete British Empire collection that was missing 8 stamps. I no longer remember his name (Pete something??) but he was a prominent Commonwealth dealer through the 1990s before literally disappearing off the face of the earth. Used to run frequent ads in Linn's.
I would have loved to see that collection when it was intact. |

Nice try. The worlds largest, most diverse, most eclectic collection is the Queen of England's. Started by Edward VII and continued by George VI, Elizabeth's father. Every country is represented not just the empire. |

Quote: OK, you just spilled your morning coffee or fell out of your chair reading this . Well said by DJCMHOH - you're an inspiration for any WW collector. I admire the diversity and span of your collecting interests - and your willingness to share knowledge about any out-of-the-ordinary-stamp. Keep going |

I thought that the Royal Philatelic Collection, was started by George V on late XIX century and it's mainly British Empire & Commonwealth. HM the Queen Elisabeth II, is still collecting stamps. There's some literatura related to the Queen's stamps. |

I think Floortrader's passion and drive for diversity given 50+ years of collecting defines the uniqueness of his collection (and approach). He isn't necessarily "specialized," yet he has specialized collections within the collection. The Chang collection does not seem to have any sub-segments that are specialized.
As with another post in this thread, I hope Floortrader continues to post his write-ups of more esoteric materials he has added to his holdings. I find them very informative and enjoyable. |

I think the generally accepted history of Elizabeth's collection started with her great-great uncle Alfred, then his brother, Edward VII, then Edward's son, George V, then KGV's son, George VI, then Liz. I could be wrong.
As an accumulator of the strange and out of the ordinary, I can appreciate floortrader's enthusiasm for byways. Since those of us who delve into cinderellas, locals, revenues, etc., don't have a ready forum to know who else is out there, and what they are accumulating, any claims have to be taken with a giant salt crystal. |

As I recall, Alfred and GV were the keen collectors. It's basically been carried on since then as an institution, with an expert curator. Didn't the fortunately short-lived EVIII express interest in selling it? |
