Sigismund III Vasa (1566-1632) was King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania, a monarch of the united Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth from 1587 to 1632, and King of Sweden from 1592 until he was deposed in 1599. Here is an image of a stamp reproducing an equestrian painting of King Sigismund from the atelier (workshop) of Flemish Baroque artist Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640), combined engraved by Czeslaw Slania and lithography, and issued by Sweden on October 3, 1998, Scott No. 2312, Facit No. 2100, plus a photo of the original painting.

The Gilt Bronzes from Cartoceto di Pergola are the only surviving Roman gilt bronze equestrian group. The monumental ensemble was composed of at least two mounted knights, of which only one remains, and two standing women. Piero del Pollaiolo (c. 1443-1496), also known as Piero Benci, was an Italian Renaissance painter from Florence. Here is an image of a stamp designed by Italian artist and engraver Luca Vangelli after a painting by Pollaiolo entitled Portrait of a Girl, printed by photogravure, and issued by Italy on July 8, 1998, Scott No. 2225, plus an image of the original 15th century painting.

Non-Violence is a bronze sculpture by Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd (1934- ) of an over-sized Colt Python .357 Magnum revolver with a knotted barrel and the muzzle pointing upwards. Here is an image of a stamp depicting this sculpture and the United Nations emblem, engraved by Lars Sjööblom, and issued by Sweden on August 3, 1995 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the UN, Scott No. 2132, Facit No. 1911, plus a photo of Non-Violence on permanent display outside UN headquarters in New York, one of 16 installations of the sculpture all around the world.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting martyred Saint Hermes (?-120), designed by Adalbert Pilch after a detail from a painting entitled Primus und Hermes (1449?) by Austrian Renaissance artist Conrad Laib (active ca.1440-1460), engraved by Alfred Nefe, and issued by Austria on August 21, 1972 to publicize the Exhibition of Late Gothic Art, Salzburg, Scott No. 927, plus an image of the relevant detail from Laib's painting.

Herfe is an image of a stamp depicting La Valse ('The Waltz"), a clay sculpture by French sculptor and graphic artist Camille Claudel (1864-1943), printed by photogravure, and issued by France on April 8, 2000 to honor the artist, Scott No. 2757, Y&T No. 3309, plus a photo of the sculpture, and a photograph of Camille Claudel in 1884, aged 19.

Urnes Stave Church, built c. 1130, is a stave church at the Ornes farm, along the Lustrafjord in the municipality of Luster in Norway.
