Hi , I received this message from paypal:
"Hello You received a payment from xxxx. We've placed the money for this transaction on hold because we believe this transaction may involve a higher than usual risk. Providing no issues arise between you and the buyer, the funds will be released in the morning of 2. Dec 2017.
Here are the details: •Buyer name:xxxxx •Transaction date: 11 November 2017 •Transaction amount: $90.99 USD •Your transaction ID: xxxxxxx
Want your money sooner? Here's what you can do to speed things up: •Mark your item as shipped on the Transaction Details page. Your money will be available within 7 days of the shipping date (or 14 days if you're shipping abroad). •If your item doesn't need to be shipped (e-book, piano lessons, etc.), mark the order as processed and provide details. Your money will be available within 7 days after you mark as processed (or 14 days if your buyer is based abroad). Thanks, PayPal"
So I don't get it. If I send the item now I risk to lose the money? or do I have to wait until the 2nd of December to send it (that is a long period of time). The buyer is from Hong Kong and has a good feedback 891 with 100%.

If you are selling on e bay.com and you don't have enough confirmed sales, paypal will put a hold on the payment....

I assume there is no downside to waiting. e-Bay can't make you ship it before your paid I'd think. Why take the chance? |

I am an ebay member since 1999 and have 2637 positive feedbacks (Half of them from buyers), never had a bad feedback. Wonder if it is because I sold to much lately? |

It says nothing. the 2 payments I received the 11 Nov are marked on hold, and the 2 had the same message. All those received the 10 nov and before are normal. Wonder if there is a limit in the payments you can receive? |

I'd call them and ask what's going on? Their phone assistance is usually pretty good |

First, the buyer's feedback of 100% is irrelevant. It's not possible for a buyer to have less and buyer feedback under the current Bay regime is meaningless. Moreover, the Bay and Paypal are separate companies so Bay buyer feedback cannot influence a Paypal decision. Next, the hold has been imposed because Paypal's software thinks YOU might not ship OR there are past delivery problems to the buyer's location and either way they are predicting they would face a non-delivery claim. That's why they tell you to mark it as shipped, to represent that you performed under your contract with the buyer and to give a feedback signal that permits them to start a clock for a reasonable time for delivery. |

These holds can also occur even if you are a longtime seller, if (1) you start selling in categories you neveer have sold in before, (2) those categories are "high risk" categories, e.g., cellphones, iPads, etc., or (3) the prices are considerably above your historic average. I've never personally been hit by a hold, but I've heard about it from enough ebay sellers that I know to be legit to not doubt it occurs. P.S. Even if none of the above apply to you, there's nothing that says that you couldn't have been hit by one of ebay's rolling "tests" in this area. As other have recommended, I would contact ebay directly for both justification and guidance/required actions. |

Thank you all for the info. I think the 3rd motive revenuecollector stated is the one making problems( (3) the prices are considerably above your historic average.) I guess, all payments I will receive this month, will have the same notice. I will send the items normally, as I always do with registered mail, and see what happens |

Well ;I would send the items right away. The payment has been sent ;so you got paid.I imagine that you will send this lot by registered mail. The moment you send it out paypal will shorten the holding time. |

Quote: Waiting until the money clears before shipping and informing the buyer about this hold... Bad advice. The hold is not the buyer's fault. Following your suggestion would be a quick way for the OP to potentially earn negative feedback. The sooner he ships, the sooner he potentially gets his funds. |

Just an update. All the transactions, which payment was on hold by paypal , went throughout without any problem. Nevertheless, after 2 months, +$700 were still on hold, so I decided to call them. The call went very well and they were very friendly. They confirmed that all payments were ok, but the fact that I had 700$ on hold was due to a bug they had in November. After 4 days they personally called me to express their excuses, and not only added the money to my funds, but gave me back all fees related +$40. So overall it was a good and fast response. |
