Here is what the postperson delivered in my mailbox today. an early release of the recalled stamp booklet.

Excellent job, Gilles. Nice, clean dated cancel. Great idea to include the back of the booklet.

There are some who are selling FDCs on ebay but I don't know if they are the recent FDCs or early ones that they have found at post offices because the FDC shown on the Canada Post website has the November 14, 2017 date on it just like the ones that are being offered for sale on ebay.

Wait, if the stamp was recalled and reissued on Nov 20. Would there be value in the stamp being used in between dates?

I am one of the people selling the FDC I got on the weekend, however I am holding it off, to see if the ones by Canada Post are dated 20th or 14th, I dont want to sell it and then turns out that Canada Post is still selling them aswell. I will only sell it if the new ones are dated the 20th for cancellation.

Looks like difference is on front cover and printing colour traffic lights. Do not know about the wording yet for description in its write up.

I am sure the bar code must have been changed too.

Jogil, you are correct with the traffic lights. The original ones were 6 points star whilew it looks like the new ones are dot. to see the difference, look at the framed special offered on Canada web site. The lights are clearly different.
Today, I tried to go to the store that sold me 2 booklets last week, and the clerk said that they have to return their inventory to Canada Post. I wonder what they will do with 299998 booklets unsold.....

I wonder if the recall will concern the French wording on the back. In English, a date is given as "165 BCE" - meaning "Before the Common Era" which is a non-religious way of saying "BC" which means "Before Christ".
The French wording, however, says "165 ans av. J.-C." which means "years before Jesus Christ" - not a phrase endearing to the Jewish people for whom the issue is celebrating.
I do not know if there is a non-religious way of expressing this in French. Perhaps one of are francophone members will let us know.

The reprinted Hanukkah booklets began appearing on ebay yesterday (Nov 22).

My post office had them today.

There are only 3 changes:

* front cover design - the six-pointed star has been replaced with 4 'candles'
* back cover has a new UPC barcode (and a subtle appearance of design elements in the top right as the new front cover design wraps around the booklet
* the six colour dots on the stamp pane have been changed from the 6-pointed star to round circles.

There is no difference in the stamps or any of the text (front or back).

Must have been an 'offensive issue' with the display of the 6-pointed star.

That is odd, since the same star appears on the stamps.

There is a difference of calendar dates used including the year so that it is named differently. See
https://macaulay.cuny.edu/eportfoli...nd-hanukkah/

I am confused as to why the booklet was really recalled since these changes appear to be quite superficial but will contribute to a listing of two different booklets with the first being scarcer. However, they were probably trying to make the booklets appear more religiously neutral by removing the star.
