Hi, everyone:

I'm making a comeback to the hobby after about a 20-year hiatus. I've been a collector of US classics and general foreign material with an emphasis on Europe.

I ended up stepping away from the hobby due to my frustration with the relatively affordable available stamp albums of the 1990s. I graduated from a Harris Traveler to a Statesman...and after adding numerous blank pages, decided to move up to a Minkus Comprehensive World Wide two-volume set. That proved to be even less of a solution than the Statesman, so I decided to take a break from collecting.

This time around, I'll have a go at it with pages from stampalbums.com printed up on my laser printer.

I'm absolutely stunned by all the good information now available online regarding our hobby. I've spent hours and hours looking at images of stamps that I've long been curious about. That's almost as much fun as owning them myself!

The Steiner pages (stampalbums.com) kept me from abandoning stamp collecting a long time ago.

I am going to the office supply store tomorrow to check out some paper for albums, and just ordered the CD-ROM with the Steiner pages.

I did have a subscription to the Steiner pages years ago, but only had an inkjet printer at the time. Even though it was an Epson, the slightest bit of moisture would cause the ink to run. The prospect of moisture or Father Time transferring lousy inkjet ink to my beloved stamps was just too much of a risk. Now, armed with a laser printer, I can do it right--and do it for keeps.

What a thrill it will be to retire all my old albums and clear out that shoebox full of stamps that I never got around to mounting...
