Very sorry that you are ill. And alone as well. But, you're not alone in either aspect. Other members here are ill, and some have gone. Others are alone, but have this hobby to share.

To repeat and recap. This is bulk lot material. One and done. Harmers a big maybe. Rasdale and Aldrich yes. Postal use inappropriate. 100 1/2¢ stamps or 50 1¢ stamps or 17 3¢ stamps on an envelope? Your ebay pricing is too high and again not appropriate, too time consuming, too much work, too much aggravation and not cost effective.

This collection is high on sentimental value but does not have the monetary value you maybe hoping for. This collection was done with joy,learning,great fun & pleasure. A wonderful hobby.

Don't give up on your auctions yet, I am very new to all of this, and went through the same process of realizing that the stamps I have are not worth much - I had started an auction to test out the sales, I also started mine way too high. I took it down 1/2 way - the funny thing about it was that I got so many views on those stamps, over 100, but not a single watcher - the buyers are telling me the same thing, the stamps are listed too high.

So, I have put some auctions out there and priced the stamps at 99 cents and they are still percolating out there, hardly anyone has looked at them yet, but you just never know on ebay if something will sell, some people do not watch.

I am disabled - not ill, and I am not doing anything for thanksgiving, I am vegetarian, cooking a big turkey and consuming it afterwards is not big on my list. I am widowed and my children are all adults and gone doing their own thing in the world - being alone seems to be in the script for me.

your views come probably from the link you gave in this forum. Try another auction and don't tell anybody about it :), then you will see how many visitors you get.

(Thanksgiving is not existing here in Germany. At all. Other than Halloween which some people try to adopt.)

Don't mean to run off with this thread, but you are right Stamperix, I believe those views are coming from this forum since I did post the auction, something I don't intend to do again. That had occurred to me, then I went and it slipped my mind, thanks for mentioning it again, I think I will end that auction - it really isn't telling me anything at all now is it? I was mistaken. Thank you all for the kind words. Since I had already donate work on the stamps, I resisted them all for a 5 day auction on ebay yesterday and started everything at $1.00. One of my plate blocks did sell, maybe to someone here, don't know :) If you are here, thank you.

No one has looked, of course it is Thanksgiving (Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here, I know there are a lot of you home alone like me, just another day for me, don't know anyone here yet (I recently moved here in June), but I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate it.

I am not sure if I am even posting my stamps correctly on ebay, are they under the correct categories and did I miss ways to get them in front of people (besides more photos, can't do that at present). Appreciate any advice, good or bad, and I know the photos could be way better. What would you change or add?

It is not "Thanksgiving" in Canada and all over the world, except USA so we can look

Only see 2 lots on ebay under youloveit and one is listed "free shipping" but there is a fee of $3.00 USPS on down further ?

I have 17 items up right now under "IfYouLoveIt", free shipping in the US and $3 international. I wonder why you can only pull up 2?

Are my ads written wrong? Anyone? I used to sell live tropical fish and ebay has changed so much since I returned. And I never sold stamps :)

I did get one sale so far, just put it together, added some free mint stamps and put older stamps on the envelope. Hope the buyer likes :)

I found them with the search for the username. I am not an expert for those stamps and its pricing, but I would always put some more stamps together - less work for you at ebay and for shipping, and perhaps more customers. And I wouldn't share too much private information at the ebay descriptions.

ifyouloveit, I am curious why you are offering free shipping? In my opinion charging a fair shipping cost is not out of line for your stamps. I am charging a dollar to mail the few stamps I have up - you have a lot more stamp listings up at this time than I do.

I don't think charging a dollar is out of line, but maybe others much more seasoned and wiser here in this forum will have another opinion about it, but I can't imagine that other people would not understand that there is postage to pay, ebay and paypal fees to pay and shipping materials to pay for that go into selling an item and getting it to the buyer.

As for putting up more stamp auctions, I hate scanning in the stamps - it is hard to position each stamp on my scanner so it scans in square - just takes patience - so I am planning to sell some of my stamps in groups which was suggested to me by one of the members in the forum, I need to do those scans and get them up, maybe today :)

I hope ifyouloveit that your stamps continue to sell. By the way - I copied the user name "IfYouLoveIt" posted ealier above as your user name on ebay and came up with no seller by that name, so I guessed and put it in as "ifyouloveit" found all of your auctions - as stamperix says, it is the seller search by user id under the advanced search option found in the upper right region of the ebay page. Your user id is case sensitive.

Julie - ideally, you should put the stamp(s) in a stock-card or stock-page before scanning, which removes the positioning problem. As an example (below), I put my cards in sleeves before scanning - I'd hate to try to align these!

Am I right in thinking that there's something in the US called Hobby Store, whose owner buys bits of the Dead Sea scrolls that may well be fakes? Perhaps they sell collecting accessories. Otherwise, any of the dealers will have accessories.
