Hi Family,
I just received notice from Palo that Davo Hingeless Albums are to be discounted 40% thru Friday. I just ordered three British and two Irish albums and received the discounted price. They're calling it a "Black Friday" sale even though the sale has already started. The office will be open Wednesday and Friday although they may close early on Friday.

If only the Palo albums were on sale like that rather than Davo... sigh. |

Agreed. I would have preferred Palo but its one heck of a deal. I hope others in the Family see this. I may post again in another forum. By the way, I bought two Ireland's as well.

I have not seen many sales from stamp supply dealers on Black Friday sales. Nothing posted on Subway or Amos Advantage's web site. If anyone sees any special discounts, please post them.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that the stamp collecting industry isn't always very up to date in its retail sense. They don't advertise their products very well sometimes. And when they do have a sale, they make it very limited. I rarely see anything in a sale flyer that I would want to buy.
Subway and Amos Advantage both had Black Friday sales on a limited number of products, but they held back a lot of products that I might have bought. For example, Subway had put its fairly expensive 1840-1940 Scott International Vintage Reproduction pages on sale over a month ago, but did not include them in the Black Friday sale, for some reason. Amos offered many of its Specialty albums in its Black Friday sale but only as "sets" with binders. Those cost hundreds of dollars, so even after the discount they were still pretty darn expensive. They did not, however, at least to my knowledge, offer their pages alone for sale. I don't need three binders for every country I collect (I already have lots of binders), so the "sets" of pages with binders were just not appealing. Pages I would have bought had they been on sale.
As for Palo, I must not even be on their mailing list as I never even heard they were having a sale. But I wouldn't have purchased any of their Davo albums, anyway, as I am selling off all the Davo albums I already have (and I have a lot!), having changed my mind.
And, one more thing, you'd think they'd alert you of their upcoming sales well beforehand so you could schedule a look at their website, avoid buying other seller's products before the sale, and just generally be aware the sale was coming. Their approach was to send out one email a day beforehand with no prior warning. That's not very effective. |

Subway have the Vintage pages in special, you need to dig a little bit more , you go in the section "by brand " and chose Vintage |
