One of my first stamps to get hands-on were revenue stamps I got from my lawyer uncle.

Is there any value? Are there a large collector base? I never pursued this as I felt postage was "cannon" and revenue were the "spin offs". Help me understand, please.

Yes, there are folks who collect those. And also, some very well known countries used postage stamps as revenues and the other way around. England comes to mind. If you search this forum for "revenue stamps" you will find quite a few posts pertaining to these.
