I thought customized stamps were not of real value to the collecting world or am I wrong?

There's a listing of 6 personalized picture stamps costing 28 dollars. These are all permanent so they bear the local value of 80 cents. 6x0.80 does not equal 28 dollars.

I am not sure about other countries, but in mine (Bulgaria) you can order anything to be printed on a stamp at the central post office.

Personalized stamps seem to fall into the category of "things stamp collectors do not like".

While I do not collect them, I think they are interesting because they represent the technology of our current age. Before the current era, these "vanity" stamps were not possible.

The seller of the particular stamps being discussed is pretty much the standard of what you see on ebay these days...blinded by greed.

He even tries to make the stamp seem part of the catalog with the alphanumeric code.

@bookndrbob - we dont like it because its not from start to finish a Canada Post stamps. Its like a spin-off of a canon story

We? Who is we?

I certainly like Personalized (or Picture Postage in Canada) stamps, and know many collectors who do so. I have even made some myself.

Or do a search in this forum for Picture Postage in title.

I think anything that goes thru the mail CAN be collected.
If Cinderellas and "locals" are valid, then I think that privately produced stamps CAN be collected.
There is probably a semantic difference between "collecting" and "gathering". I suppose "Collecting" has a limit (say a set of 100 baseball cards) but "gathering" has no limit (say a privately produced baseball card of a junior high school team in Arkansas).
Likewise I cant see the "collecting" value of a privately produced stamp for a wedding invitation, a local church, a tribute to a recently deceased relative but if any showed up in kiloware, I would certainly add them to my album.
Are they ever worth "collecting"?
Well my major concern about privately produced stamps is that it is very difficult for the gatekeepers to ensure that things are tasteful. For example nudity or drug use would obviously not be acceptable.
But in the cases of deceased relatives etc, how can the gatekeepers ensure that images of (say) serial killers do not get under the radar? Has it ever happened?

Conversely if it did, the stamp would be "collectable" for the worst possible reasons.

Many personalized stamps are listed by the major catalogs (personalized aspects notwithstanding), so I don't see why they would not be collectible.
