Hello
I got this stamp in a recent purchase.
It is CTO, yet I didn't see any un-valued stamp in USSR or Russia stamps catalog.
The inscription reads "philately world of knowledge".
Can it be a tab?
Thanks for sharing any idea.
Rob

Quick answer: yes, it's basically a tab, but from what stamp issue I don't know.

Hi,

This label was se-tenant with the stamp issued to mark the "Sixth All-Union Philatelic Society Congress, Moscow" on 9th August 1989, SG 6028.

The "OCKBA" on the postmark is for Moscow (MOCKBA). The inscription reads (in my poor, literal translation) "Filateliya - Mir Poznaniya" (I think). I believe the symbol next to the globe stamp is for the All-Russian Society of Philatelists aka All-Union Society of Philatelists aka All-Union Society of Collectors. The name in Russian is Всероссийское общество филателистов, or В O ф. Hope this helps.

Apparently, the Russian cyrillic didn't come through. :-)

Thanks Rod

Walkman82,

Yes, I've often tried typing foreign characters here and while they often look fine on the preview page they don't get saved to the database.

The slogan is a good one, "Philately - a World of Knowledge".
