A lot of folks have looked at the FedEx logo for years without seeing the negative arrow in it.

Both of the images use what is known in psychology as figure-ground perception. It depends upon the perspective you are focusing on as to whether you see a sandglass in the playbill (looking at the white and colored parts as the image) or a pair of faces looking at each other (the black silhouettes become the focus). The same applies to the "negative arrow" Don points out in the FedEx logo.
