I was wanting to list this group on ebay just now and I paused when I saw the orange shade of the 30pf alongside the yellow 25pf.

Here is the stamp in question alongside one with the yellow shade.

The overprint is shifted upward slightly, but the bar is still clearly visible. Scott does not list the orange and black on orange variety as a Type II, only as a I & III, both with high CV. So basically, the control bar is irrelevant to the value it appears. Just needs to be the correct shade. To me, the background on the 25pf is clearly yellow and on the 30pf clearly orange.

I was going to list these low, but I want to ask here first before I decide on a price.

It is difficult to look at stamps from a scan and judge the color of them.

Using the Michel catalogue: The 25 pfg is a Red or yellow orange on a light yellow background. And the 30 pfg is dark orange on a more white background. This to my opinion makes the colors of your stamps normal.

Considering the bar overprint. 2 questions 1)are you sure that the 30 pfg has the little bar under the big bar? 2) is that little bar black?

One more observation. If I would come across this offer, I would assume that the upper stamps were cto. To me that matters, but to others it might not. This does have a huge influence on the value of the stamps(not for the better)

Kind regards,

Johan.

A few comments:

1. Scott is next to useless for German material. Get a copy of Michel Specialised.
2. Forgeries of these are quite common. The images you posted does not help in this regard. Just something to think about.

I found these in a large lot so I'm aware of the possibility that they're forgeries, although it's hard to tell. I'm pricing them with this in mind and the price is low enough that it doesn't matter. They're still nice stamps.
