Hello From Baltimore! I Need Your Assistance !

Hi ! I am seeking information from your forum. Yesterday, I received 5 binders of stamps, some of the pages are complete, others are not, I am seeking to sell these items, but need to know if I should sell individually or as blank pages (no stamps, pages with stamps, or the binders with descriptions of what I have available. I really am not a collector, but I know there is value for these items. I have Ships of The World, United Nations Stamps, The Heritage Collection-Imperforate Stamp Collection,The Heritage Collection-First Day Covers, Tobacco Strips, Wine Revenue Stamps and Magical Kingdom of Disney Stamps. ANY help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time !

Hi and welcome. The tobacco and wine revenue stamps are the most interesting. Please show some scans. Have you checked ebay for comparables? Not just the asking prices but the actually sold prices under the "advanced" section.

I will get some pics and send them over. In reply to redwoodrandy, I have looked at ebay and saw the Disney and I am more confused than I started ! It appears that the variety of binder offerings is wide. Pricing is all over the place.

For The Magical Kingdom of Disney Stamps- there are 41 binder pages, 15 pages are complete with stamps and there are 8 additional loose sheets of stamps to be glued (?)on the sheets. Again, I really don't know how to approach selling this item, as it is, individual pages with or without stamps, loose stamps, glue the stamps in the book, I am so lost, HELP !

I would offer the Magical Kingdom material together.

If you are using ebay to better understand the possible value, do not bother looking at all the 'For Sale' listings, people ask silly prices for stamps because less experienced folks sometimes think that a 'stamp collection' is inherently valuable.

Instead, filter ebay search results for only listings that have 'Sold' (check box on left hand side of ebay search page). For example here is a typical 'Sold' listing for a Magical Kingdom of Disney Stamps listing;

Of course the value is largely dependent upon which stamps are included; this probably explains why you are seeing a wide range of pricing.

Cautionary note; do not 'stick' the stamps into the albums. The proper mounts for large panes or sheets of stamps can be costly, sometimes surpassing the value of the stamps themselves (which may explain why some have not already been mounted in the albums). But putting them into the album improperly can remove any value they might have.

P.S.- There is also an actual brick and mortar stamp dealer near you out on the Reisterstown Pike, named Geezer's Tweezers. I have met him at shows and he is a nice guy. He may be able to give you an estimate of any value first hand....at least he could separate the wheat from the chaff for you. Some of what you listed may appeal to topical collectors (ships, Disney, UN....) but the chance that you have a gold mine there is extremely slim so don't be disappointed. The tobacco and wine revenue stamps....post photos or seek out the Geezer. John
