That's neat plsllvn.
My mom went to one of those older one room school houses.
I like the baseball one also.
I read somewhere that there is one person who designs these special pictorial postmarks, I think someone who also carves special medals and coins. Maybe I'm mixing postmarks up there. Not sure.
I like it on the blocks of stamps instead of just one stamp. Gives you a chance to see the whole postmark and still enjoy the stamp. Although one per stamp is neat also as I mentioned above.
I thought they would be great for making my own first day covers of stamps some day as I don't like the rectangular POCON (Post Office Computer Organization Number) cancels they mostly have now.
Did you do the canceling yourself? Did both places let you do your own? Or did you just ask and they said tell me where you want me to cancel it?

Puzzler Today I visited 5 different post offices and the Postmasters/Clerks applied the postmarks on all but one of them. Everyone of the employees were very helpful and some even provided literature that explained how they came to choose their pictorials, they all asked were I preferred the cancel to be. Here are some more pics from Springford, Ontario I spoke for some time with the Postmaster and she told me that their design came from a drawing done by a local resident. Paul |

Very nice again. I love that horse and carriage (buggy?)! I must have my cancels mixed up in my brain. Need more memory or better memory. Did you get any of the newer horse / pony stamps cancelled with that cancel? |

Edit: Note: 54 cents is the rate for a letter within Canada (domestic) in 2009. Here is a cancel (borrowed from ebay) from Iron River, Alberta. Note the chain saw as the graphic in the cancel. Boy, if they can have a chain saw, maybe I can get a cancel with a cat. |

Yes, great cancels. I still prefer Puzzler's Woodstock cancel on the empire stamp, but these sure beat spray-ons.
What's it like to have post office workers with a customer-service attitude? We can dream...... |

I like these new, fancy postmarks from Canada Post. We have a nice one at the main post office, in downtown Ottawa. I work across the street from it, at Ian Kimmerly Stamps. The central design is (drum roll...) The Peace Tower! What else would you expect for Ottawa? Do you want one, Paul? David |
