While rummaging through an old box of stamps, I found this #1181 Runnymede Library stamp. As you can see, the text is on the left side of the stamp.

Since the font is black, it would be printed by 'BABN'.
But can you help me identify *which* variety it is? I can't seem to find it in the 2017 Unitrade Catalog ... (I don't see any image of it in the 2017 catalog)

Thanks for the Help!

hmm Sorry, perhaps was not clear enough...

I am not finding the *variety* of the stamp in my 2017 Unitrade calalog on page 259...
I see:
1181
b
i
iii
ii
a
iv
v

Which one is my stamp? (probably not ii and iv, as those are the CBN printers)

Your stamp is 1181ii.

A slightly off-centre inscription or image is not a variety, if that is what you mean by a variety. The "CANADA $1" is correctly printed.

It is not "$1 CANADA".

I sent an email (mostly the same as my original post) to the makers of the Unitrade Catalog, and they were nice enough to reply! Here it is:

Quote:
I believe your variety has more of a perforation shift than a colour shift.

In either case, as noted on page 27 of the catalogue, the Unitrade does not list colour or perforation shifts.

<name removed, just in case it is improper to use it here>
Editor, Unitrade Specialized Catalogue of Canadian Stamps

So rechecking the stamp, indeed it does appear that is was perforated improperly, as the text is still aligned to the image.

A) Does this happen often in the Canadian stamps?
B) Does this mis-perforation have any effects on the value of the stamps?
C) Is there other catalogues that actually mentions this perforation shift

THANKS for the help!

This is not unusual for any stamp producing country and can happen with any issue run.

The perforation or image shift is not significant enough (in my opinion) to merit an increase in value or inclusion in any catalogue.
