Stallzer, yours definitely has that doubled dot that the 49R2 displays but is too high for it to be 49R2. |

The mark on the 'C' of cent is somewhat similar to the one shown on 58R3 on the Deporto site. Not sure if it is printing ink or something else on your stamp though. |

Positions 5 - 7 L2 on piece. Been trying to stare at the post mark in retroreveal but all I can see are the letters ?NERSVILL *EDIT* Was putting it in it's place when I accidentally looked at the back and that's when I realized I never look at the back of anything on piece. Probably because it was formerly the inside of the envelope. When I saw this for the first second or 2 I wasn't pleased that it wasn't mentioned in the description and then I realized the writing wasn't on the back of the stamp but rather the back of the piece and I find it interesting. Looks like this might have been on piece for 60+ years? Lot 483 1960? Anyone recognize the initials or the upside writing? Let me know if you want me to flip the scan. |

Possibly ends with an "E" Which makes is even harder Kernersville Minersville Connersville and possibly hundreds of others. Kernersville (NC) fits the CDS ring, maybe the "30" was damaged if searching similar. |

Quote: Been trying to stare at the post mark in retroreveal but all I can see are the letters ?NERSVILL... The Stamp Smarter Zip Code finder supports partial character searches; so by typing in NERSVILL it returned these current town/city names. Note these are current names and only serves to give you some possibilities of names to look further into... Don |

I completely whiffed on the Wernersville and was treating it as someone's last name or signature. |

The CDS seems consistent with the writing on the back, Wernersville Pa. |

I would never have guessed the "a" of Pa was an "a" Extraordinary. Cancellations can make fools of us all.

Replying to njs's post here: https://goscf.com/t/56958&whichpage=9#713089I don't know what happened to the Ashbrook/Neinken Plate 2 reconstruction. Our mutual friend Dick Celler, who passed away earlier this year, had made a lot of progress on Plate 2. His reconstruction was complete, except for missing just 4 positions. So yours is likely the only complete one, while Dick's is almost complete. For readers, in general - Reconstructing Plate 2 is difficult, since there are no manual recuts by-position, to go on, which differ on each plate position, as they do on Plate 1-Late. |
