Hello
Does anyone in the forum have example of this Scott 532 to help distinguish the color between violet and bright red violet (532a)?

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

Go to Siegel's power search and type 537a for Scott number. Sale 1090, lot 1575 with the Salem Ohio precancel is an excellent example of the shade you are looking for.

Going to be difficult to compare your two stamps. I think we can safely assume they were scanned by two different people (Lioness2 and Stampman202) on different scanners in different places. Your scanners will achieve different results, and so won't be very accurate on all our monitors.
Maybe you two can meet for coffee, scan the two stamps together and then we'll get a better idea of the differences.
Sorry, only being mildly sarcastic, but the best thing to do IS to scan them together at the same time to really see the different hues.

Thank for all your comments. Both locations, The Philatelic Foundation and Seigel's, was helpful. Interesting about the selvage found with one of the certifications viewed. It had 9413 as a genuine 537a on its left side.

Lioness2 IMHO and this is just me and taking consideration of different scanners and all but your stamp looks closer to the deep dark violet than Stampman2002. Not saying it is just saying it looks closer. If you don't have another one to compare it with and you have a few bucks to spend you can always send it in to get it expertise. Again this is just my opinion.
