trabz; The "BM" only stands for "Boite Mobile" not Boite Maritime..
The "BM" was used everywhere.

perf12, I checked my reference , it says Boite Maritime but I assume it is the same "Boite Maritime Mobile". According to to my knowledge (correct me if I am wrong), this boite martime was placed on the pier and people used to put the letters there due to the absence of the post office. The ship used to collect the letters to the final destination.
