Hi again,

Do we have any members that could offer a translation on the two covers below?

Any help would be much appreciated

Material we see very rarely,
nice covers and Postmarks, Bobby.

Romance would have me thinking these were connected to the Gold rush in both countries.

Thanks Rod - I share the romantic notions. For the first cover, a quick search at trove proves we're right:

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/...l-decade=186

The first cover is a nice example of the use of the 6d DLR for the intracolonial postage of 2d plus the 4d registration. Parkes is gold country. The address also tells us that Chinatown was originally at the north end of George Street!

The second cover is addressed to Marysville in California and the front bears another two 2d DLRs. Posted from Narrandera, the postage on this cover is overpaid by 2d (should've been 10d: 6d postage to USA plus 4d registration).

I love my stamps, but I love my covers more

The Chinese characters on the covers are nothing but the address and name of recipients (and C/O) of the letters. You got the translation already on the covers (or on the back for the second letter?).
