Not at all, just a recognition aid.
When you are not familiar with a country's early issues, an image can assist, look at the Brazil Scott type A31 and A35 for example.
This is no different than an normal imaged Album Page.
I generally purchase Album pages of stamps, checking my images against the online image of multiple stamps aids ID.
When I get an issue, I simply lift off the image.
They are attached by a 2mm strip of double sided tape.
They lift off by tweezers.
