I had purchased as new subscription to Steiner and was printing out new pages to remount some issues.

While I was transferring stamps, I noticed that Steiner removed spaces for the "second" minor variety of the 20˘ Orchids with the different color backgrounds. Now, in PDF's from 2005, there was a space for both varieties for several states (Perlis, Selangor). Sarawak did not have a space at the time (file date was 2004!)

Sarawak Listing = SG recognizes the stamp but not listed in Scott.

Scott SG
253a 245 20 c. Type 56 (blackish brown background)
UNL 245 a 20 c. Type 56 (bronze-green background)

Is this one of the stamps that can be identified by a different Sarawak flag on each stamp?

Merry Christmas morning...

Here is a fuller explanation.

This is the issue from Selangor since I have both color samples.

From Stanley-Gibbons.

The initial issue was watermarked and blackish brown. The image on left. It has a clear watermark.

The second issue was not watermarked but available in blackish brown (the valuable one) and also in bronze-green.

Steiner had spaces for both second printing varieties for most states and now he does not. Sarawak was one he did not provide the second space so maybe I will end up redoing his page.

Original pages

Now

I sent an email to Bill but sharing findings.

angore.
Is there not room at the bottom of the page, to add the variety?
You can print a small tab and attach, giving information perhaps.
