It is much easier to identify a forgery if a real stamp can be placed next to it and scanned to a large picture .

Interesting piece - the scan makes it appear as though the In-period Guelph CDS is on top of the inverted overprint. Not electrotyped though, has a washy ink pad look and Is not believable. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a surcharge that has exhibited some wear from use.

It DOES look like the cancel is on top of the surcharge in some places - notably the the "E" on the "2" on the overprint, and the "C" on the "E" of "Cents".
