Both look like forgeries but are a lot better than most forgeries ,I have the FOURNIER Forgeries and the eyes are totally different, also the sun rays don't look right . Let me scan a real one when I get home . |

Have a look at: http://stampworld.ca/Website/south-...ica/uruguay/Seems to match genuine characteristics given. Neither is a Fournier forgery (compare above). Neither is a Sperati forgery (compare above; I also have a copy of the book illustrating his forgeries.) EDIT: Your 80c does not have the thin line connecting the "T" and "E" of "MONTEVIDEO", the extreme thinning of the bottom of the "8", or the flaws as shown in left "CORREOS". Therefore, it's not a Sperati forgery. "8" of "80" is always backwards-looking on genuine and fakes, if you were wondering. #13 I think is a brown lilac, #13b. |

I don't know if the Serrane Guide (for forgeries of classics), published by the APS, is still available from them. Might be worth an inquiry. |

Thanks.
A quick online search and I found one for $112.50 and some grainy scans, unfortunately I don't read French.
There are several good modern online sites for counterfeits that are very useful, such as the ones referenced above.
