There may be some collector value because it was used with the Railway Mail Service, but even then, the cancel is incomplete.

Paslechoix, they seem common, but you should try to post better and clearer pictures.

I took the pictures from envelopes, what do you mean they seem common? I thought they were precious.

Common means there have been lots of them printed.

paslechoix,
You can start on this page to ID these stamps http://www.stampsmarter.com/1847usa...ankmain.html

As you drill down into the information, you will note that these were produced in many varieties. Same stamp design, but some have different perforations, watermarks, and/or print types. If you look at ebay, you may see stamps which look like your but are noted as 'rare' or listed for a lot of money. Many of these are mis-identified. The stamps you show could be one of 40-50 varieties. We would need high quality scans to make a proper ID.

To properly ID your stamps, always start with the assumption that you have the most common variety. The most common varieties often have print qualities in the billions of stamps. So even though a stamp may be very old, they are very common.

Of course if the stamps/covers have sentimental value, then no one but yourself can place a value one them.

In 1911 the postage rate for post cards was 1¢ and letters were 2¢ per ounce. Millions of those stamps were printed and in use from 1909 until 1912. Millions of them are still around today, so they are quite common. My 2015 price guide gives them a value of 10¢ to 25¢ each, so they are only precious if they have some meaning to you.

Are the envelopes whole, or are the stamps on a cut piece of it? If the envelopes are complete and not badly damaged they would be worth more, although not a whole lot more.

What is meant by common? In 1911 alone there were 5,130,249,018 two cent sheet stamps issued. And that is only about one third of the total issued for the life of the stamp.

Wow, In 1911 alone there were 5,130,249,018 two cent sheet stamps issued.

That means what I have is like a garbage? Why is ebay misleading people then? I remember I saw a red two cents Washington stamp for US$150+

Again, you can not belieeve everything you see on ebay. Some people are just out to steal from others - some folks just do not know better.
Also, some stamps of this era look almost the same and can be very scarce. That is why I mentioned the fact that your pictures are not very clear. Some are out of focus and make it hard to see small details. Hope this helps?

Peter

Especially in the 1908-1920 era, the statement above about different stamps looking almost exactly alike is VERY true, and they can have vastly different values.
