Good luck angore

You're quite right, KG6 is much more affordable than KGV and in genuine used condition much easier to find.

A lot of colonies produced new designs but there are quite a few that didn't.

Engraved stamps are art in miniature as far as I'm concerned. Absolutely beautiful to look at.

It may not fit everyone's definition but Shahpura SG F51a was issued in 1947 so could qualify.

This weekend I will start creating an inventory file in excel of KGVI issues.

I only have a 2005 Scott Classic.

Are all (meaning any Scott lists) the KGVI issues listed in the Scott Classic Catalogue?

I did a spot check on Great Britain in Stampworld (a good resource tp compare) and Scott ends with Scott 291, the Festival of Britain, which appears to be the last KGVI issue for GB. I am sure there are no QEII issues but not sure about KGVI.

The Festival commemoratives were issued on the same day (3/5/51) as some of the last GVI definitives and varieties thereof. The only later GVI issue was a booklet pane of the 1d ultramarine from March 1952. The first QEII definitives - 1 1/2 d green, 2 1/2d carmine-red - appeared on 5/12/52.

angore,

Have you considered using a commercial software package for inventory processing? There are several of them out there, some of which have been extensively covered here on SCF.

Angore - great decision to go for KGVI Commonwealth.

Have you heard of Murray Payne - they put out a small specialist catalogue, which you can find quite easily - for example:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-MUR...AOSwaEhZMsDR

Don't know what sort of album you envisage but I use a fast-bound pre-printed one - the so-called 'Crown' album by Stanley Gibbons. It makes for a lovely collection, and automatically gives you the full scope of countries and issues.

Angore asks an excellent question. The Scott Specialized covers the British Empire to 1952 but that's no guarantee every KG6 stamp is listed.

The last KGV stamp issued was Hong Kong SG118c/Sc #131, issued April 14, 1937. This stamp didn't appear in SG Part 1 until the 1938 edition.

You couldn't go wrong with Ringo's advice. From Payne's own site the latest edition will set you back £40 post paid

Thanks for the feedback. I have done Australia, Bermuda, Barbados, Ascension, and Bahamas and the country ends with the last stamp issues before QEII.

Bobby - am I right in thinking that there was an Aussie stamp featuring GVI that appeared after his death?

As does my 2014 Specialized angore.

King George 6th died on 6th February 1952 so any issue after that date could technically be classed as a QEII issue.

Quite right Geoff, Scott 237, 238, 238A, 247 (SG 248, 249, 250, 252) were all issued after KG6 death.

I'm sure common sense prevails and these four stamps are included in any pre-printed KG6 album.

Nice find YeaPolska, thanks for the link

YeaPolska, also thanks for the link. I noticed it has SG numbers so good for a cross reference.

I think I will just stop where Scott ends. I suspect I will end creeping back into earlier KGV and into QEII.

Does the Murray Pane book have catalogue numbers (SG is fine)?

angore,

Look into the King Edward VII issues. There were four of them issued as a set before he abdicated. They are not expensive.
