My uncle had his mint Zepps in Showgards in his album, as well. He also had a substantial number of expensive stamps from Great Britain and British North America, similarly mounted in albums. I don't think he had anything up in the $10,000 range, but his collection was certainly FAR more valuable than mine. (I only have about five pieces that cost me more than $50 each.)
The other issue of course is safety. I always remember my buddy who ran a stamp shop in a bad section of town. I asked if he wasn't worried about a break in? He loved to explain that the folks in the neighborhood didn't care about the things he sold and then he'd laugh and say "besides who would they sell them to? I'm the only dealer in town!"
I hide my stamps in plain sight. I know there is good stuff in that closet but even I have trouble finding it.
