So this is a 1981 stamp from Mozambique. It looks like they used it in 1996, and to account for inflation they just blanked out the value and stamped on a new one...

I have an original one, and the used one to show the comparison...

I searched online and couldn't find any other examples like this. But then again, there probably aren't many Mozambique collectors out there...lol

Fairly common practice. When the postal rates increase, sometime older stamps are Overprinted, as in this case. The old value is marked out and a new value is added. The old stamp now become a new stamp, with it's own catalogue number.

The original was issued in 1981 Dec 6, Scott 792, as part of a set of crabs.
The overprint issued in 1995 Oct 4, Scott 1253. Both have minimal value

They have value to me, I lived in Mozambique at the time and that's where I got the stamps :)
