I just read elsewhere that this group has notified members they are disbanding. It seems they cannot maintain their activities due to lack of interest and a shrinking membership.
Korea is of course very much in the news these days. You'd think that alone could result inn some interest in their stamps. Without knowing the details I'd have to guess that poor leadership played a role here.
I do not collect this area but this seems a precursor of problems ahead for other groups.

Not poor leadership ,the leadership is getting older and tired of not seeing new members stepping up to do the stuff to keep the organization going . Same problem with all the clubs that are closing down . |

I contacted this organization multiple times over at least a 3-year period in the not-too-distant past, requesting a membership application and asking to join. (I am a long-term member of the APS and the ISJP (Japan stamp society), so I should not have been seen as a high-risk prospective member.)
I never ever heard back from anyone, despite my multiple attempts to follow up to multiple people. So if they needed new members, they certainly did nothing to encourage that process.
It's too bad -- this is an area where I have a lot of material, would like to learn much more about it, and would happily have joined. |

I do think it was, in part, poor leadership. I don't claim to know all the details but not having anyone stepping up to run things when the time comes is in part due to poor leadership. Rather perhaps leadership stubbornly refusing to develop internet presence. I recall some years ago trying to go to their website and not being able to pull it up and then when I did it was pathetic.
You see this in local clubs. One I know of touts their website in promotional brochures. I cannot pull it up, my anti-virus software won't let me. I reported the problem and nothing happened, still cannot go to it. I think for some guys over a certain age anything online is shrouded in mystery.
I have read that there are two or three well known societies teetering on the edge of going under. Possibly rumor but it would't come as a surprise. |

I am a member of the KSS and got the letter Stamps1962 refers to, but then decided that closing down the KSS now would mean the end of the KSS forever and perhaps that would not be such a good idea. Together with the secretary of the KSS I've built in the last few weeks a new website, www.koreastampsociety.org. Please see the result and give some feedback if you happen to have some time. There is a discussion on Stampboards about this subject as well, see www.stampboards.com/viewtopi...?f=13&t=80139 for more details. Philatarium: if you are, even after your experience with the KSS, willing to help you are VERY welcome of course. |

Just like Japan, the population's aging and not reproducing. Many couples have only one child and many none. Youngsters will not be interested in philately and so that's the answer. |

I had the same issue as the person a few posts above. I was told about KSS at NYC2016 and sent in multiple emails and applications since and never heard anything back. The new site looks wonderful tho so going to give it another go and see if I can't join finally.

I just "joined" or at least I think I did, using their new webpage. I'd pay dues if they want, but it appears at this time to be free. That's not a bad deal. |
