The 1913 date in the circle is the cancel date. The 1915 date in the rectangle is part of the advertising slogan for the upcoming exposition. |

The difference in dates is due to the very early publicity given to such a massive exposition. This was, for the times, a bigger event/less common event than World's Fairs are today. So here, you had lots of time (and save up money) to make arrangements to go to this truly major event.
Other publicity-type slogan cancels were only used during the time of a fair/exposition. |

Oh wow! Ok, that is cool! I had no idea it would be even close to that reason. I thought (nowhere near as educated in the subject) maybe the letter got lost in the mail, and was found and sent at a later time. Crazy I know. Y'all r very helpful! I have a single Valentine's Day card that is among these post cards, would that count as a post card if I post pictures? |

I have a book that was given to a boy named Ross, from his Grandmother, as a birthday gift. It has 75 post cards in it. Dating from 1910 to 1915 I believe is the most recent date. It's amazing to me how much they progressed, color, embossing, etc. Over the short amount of time! I'll post some pictures in the proper forum for you to see. |

We'd love to see more including the Valentine's Day card. And showing both sides would be appreciated if used.
With a little book research, I find that cancels publicizing the Panama-Pacific Exposition were first used back in 1911. Talk about advanced publicity! |
