The Washington Franklin stamps of this ear have many varieties. The varieties were the result of running production changes made over many years and include differences in perforations and watermarks. You would be best served to spend an hour or two first learning about these stamps so you can identify them with stamp in hand. The 3rd Bureau issue stamps (aka Washington-Franklins) are among the hardest U. S. stamps to identify. You should definitely take Don's advice and use the Stamp Smarter website to learn about and identify these stamps. For example, this 8 center looks to be a perf 10 sheet stamp; you need to verify that with a perforation gauge. If it is a perf 10 sheet stamp, it then would need to be tested for a watermark. A perf 10 sheet stamp with single-line watermark is Scott 431. A perf 10 sheet stamp with no watermark is Scott 470.
