they are currently having a 25% off sale on yearly subscriptions to their online catalog. That makes their standard version (which has all the listings in Michel-Deutschland, Michel-Europa and Michel-Ubersee catalogs, with weekly updates of content. Even more expanded versions are available at higher prices), around €90.00/US$111.00/£80.00/Aus$140.00.

And if you are a member of some philatelic societies, you can get additional discounts. American Philatelic Society members save €10.00 more, for example.

So ~US$100.00 for full online access to the entire range of standard Michel Catalogs for a year, along with updates. Compare that to the cost of the hard copies of Michel catalogs, that is a BARGAIN, and I am going to use a bit of my tax refund this year to sign up and give it a whirl. With the average single Ubersee or Europa print volume from Michel costing around the same as a 1 year subscription, makes total sense to try it out (especially for worldwide collectors!)

The demo is VERY limited, it only gives you the basic text, no images and no values. And it only lists up to 5 listings on any search.

you have to buy the actual subscription to get images, values and full listings.

shermae,

It's functioning, it's just limited because it's a demo.

You won't have access to the list of countries due to it being a demo, but if you click the search button (the little magnifying glass), you'll get to see about 50 sets of West Germany.

When you first go in:

After clicking search:

Then, you can click on an individual set to see the listing, or use the filters to narrow down the list:

After reading DJCMHOH's post, I can't be 100% sure that my previous post is accurate. I'm already a subscriber, so I might be seeing different stuff in the demo than a non-subscriber.

Here is sample from the demo - I did a search for Algeria issues of 2006.

As it says (in German) you have the first five listing based on your search. With the full version you get more information, such as illustrations, picture descriptions, color, Michel number and much more (including catalog values, see the image on the order page to order the subscription)

I just hope the sale lasts til the end of the month. I am supposed to get my refund deposited on the 30th, so fingers crossed the sale keeps running

Try going to the login and input the username and password both as "demo", without the quotes.

Thanks very much for the help. Just wanted to get a slight feel for it before plunking down cash. I'm interested to see what kinds of basic varieties (shade, watermark, plate, die, perf, etc) are listed for various Europe and Colonies that are not listed in Scott. Would also like to create some cross references.

Given that several of you are disciples, it seems worth trying out for a year.

Renden I don't think Michel translates the database into other languages, only in German.

In the demo version I couldn't so a right-click "translate to English" of a page in Chrome but I could select the text from a set description and translate that with Google Translate.

Well, Michel is a "french" name, for us anyway - Catalogue looks great but I do not speak "german" and will not use Google programs to translate - this is a 24 hour job !!
If Michel wants our business......
