Stamp Smarter has a large database (200+) of Philatelic Website Links. It is actually a community project that only I have participated in, if other folks would like to add links, or have a link they would like to see added, please let me know. I have written code which displays a random website each time a webpage is displayed (or refreshed). It looks like this

If any website owner is interested, I am making a code snippet available (free) which you can use on your own website. This saves you time in having to write and maintain your own 'Links' webpage. Since it changes every time the user views your webpage, the your content stays fresh. Users can click on the link in the snippet and the website will open in a new window so the user will stay anchored on your site.

To add the Philatelic Link Of The Day to your website simply copy and paste the following code into a webpage (it is 450 px x 250 px).

Quote:
<iframe id="S1" border="0" frameborder="0" name="S1" scrolling="no" src="http://www.stampsmarter.com/PNT/randompublic.aspx" style="width: 450px; height: 250px">Courtesy of StampSmarter.com</iframe>

If anyone has any questions, please let me know.

Don

Don,

shouldn't the iframe source link be protocol-less, ie. src="//www.stampsmarter.com/PNT/randompublic.aspx", to accommodate requests from secure(https) and non-secure(http) origins. As is, it will provide a security warning if called from secure page.

I think Google also recommends that widget backlinks (i.e. Courtery of Stamp Smarter) include rel="nofollow" to prevent possible penalties (related to certain backlink strategies).

Hi scb,
Frankly I assumed that most people used "nofollow" in a header meta tag (I'm old), folks can certainly change the iframe code as they see fit (to make it protocol-less).

Thanks, Don;

This is timely for me as I have just started to revamp my old web site (thehowards.ca) and am setting up a new one (itmastamps.com).

Frank.
