Hello From Da Swamps

Hey y'all. Yep, it's me again! :)

Hope this finds you in good spirits.
I have already posted in the coin community and I thought I would swing on over here and say howdy.

So howdy, y'all!

I inherited a beautiful collection or two. And then a few boxes of stamps. And then lots of postcards. Unfortunately for me, a lot of postcards were squared away with things that I thought had no value to me. Such as maps from tourist centers. Evidently one of my maternal relatives took the time to take grandma's post cards and place them with the coordinating maps. My great-grandma traveled overseas, as did my grandpa at the beautiful young age of 73 until he was 88. (they were all avid travelers cross the grand ole US of A)

Anyway, I digress. Here I am trying to make sense of these stamps. I am going to go exploring in the forums and find some great advice.

I really love this forum. And am totally going to be throwing myself head long into these posts. So watch out. I am going to be winding my way through the place, kind of like a hurricane . . . or a . I'll try not to use too many exclamation marks. Wouldn't want y'all to think I'm yelling. :) But I'm super excited about this!

Sleepy, I admit I got a little stuck in the land of the coins. But I have returned upon finding some mint stamps hidden away with some naval buttons and dog tags from WWII.

I'm still familiarizing myself with this great forum.

I was just wondering if y'all could point me in the direction to find the posts about what an amateur collector should do with their new found collection.

I have been looking for posts but I cannot find anything that begins to outline what a new collector should do. I hate to ask a question that's already been asked a million times before but I am so "misdirectional"!
