A French company by the name of Robinson, known for making different models of rain and sun umbrellas, advertised its wares with a poster featuring Robinson himself with an umbrella made of natural materials. The poster dates from the 1920s and the company is still active producing finely crafted objects for daily use. (I hope you don't mind something non-philatelic here.)

The London Conference began in December 1866, and was the final one in a series of conferences that led to the Canadian Confederation. Delegates from the Province of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick gathered with officials of the British government to draft the British North America Act, 1867, the beginning of Canada as a sovereign country. Queen Victoria signed the proclamation. I wonder if one umbrella was enough for these gentlemen.

A traffic policeman in Bridgetown has hung up his overcoat on Nelson's pedestal and now needs a sun umbrella. He looks very busy but traffic seems light. I wonder if Nelson is still there. 1985

The lighthouse on Point Venus, French Polynesia/Tahiti, celebrated its 150th anniversary last year - it's still there and now brightly renovated. The lady with her parasol shows that in 1868 French fashion was established on the islands. (Earlier Captain Cook had looked at the planet Venus from the lighthouse hill.) Note Tahitian art in the background.

(P.S. I don't know if this stamp appears on the lighthouse thread because not all scans show up with my setup.K.)

Numerous logos under and next to the umbrella show how many different types of handicaps are being recognized on the Iraq National Day of the Disabled, 2015. All need special protection (I wonder how many are war injured).
