Not a philatelistic contribution, but umbrellas nevertheless. A colorful market scene decorated the 50F bill of Madagascar (issued in 1974). Global Money Week extends from the 25th to the 30th of March. (And it's World Saving or Thrift Day on the 30th of October.) logo

A lovely watercolor painting of an outdoor marketplace in Macau shown on a souvenir sheet of 1998. There is also a vast indoor market in Macau.

Two more stamps of Macau illustrated market scenes in 1998. They belong to a set called "Livlihoods". This one shows a market vendor selling clothing - her umbrella appears attached to her cart.

The second Macau stamp of the "Livelihoods" set shows a market kitchen under a colorful umbrella. So you can do all your necessary shopping and then enjoy a tasty meal. 1998

Another poster stamp advertising for Swiss chocolate: Spüngli of Zürich. The confiserie is still there and it's difficult to simply walk past without filling one's basket...

The Place du Tertre up on the Montmartre in Paris is a wonderful town square in which to spend a sunny afternoon - you can have your portrait sketched in a few moments. French personalized stamp of 2016.

Even in winter you can stroll along the Place de la Sorbonne and visit one of the cafes or bistros under an umbrella or awning on the way. Part of the set of personalized stamps of 2016 featuring scenes of Paris. (By the way, the "Lettre Verte" is for national letters and the "Monde" is for international mail.)

Whatever the weather, Kohinoor snap fasteners/buttons can keep your clothes in place. One can still buy them in endless different sizes and models. It is said that the Lokesch Company, Austria, named them after the famous Kohinoor diamond at the beginning of the past century.

A very odd stamp indeed: Jiminy Cricket projected on a human eyeball! He is hanging on to his umbrella, but I have no idea what he is doing there in the first place. One in a booklet of five Belgian 'duostamps' featuring Disney's Pinocchio. 2007

The Somali Republic (or an agent for that country) issued a souvenir sheet featuring Jiminy Cricket with his umbrella for the Olympics in China 2008. Minny Mouse is practicing skiing.

Some more Disney: Two friends visiting Old Faithful. Pluto seems to think it's raining - have you ever been there? - it feels like very warm rain if one gets close enough to get wet! 1990

Perhaps in the story, he was shrunk...?
Netherlands / Belgium have the most abstruse designs of all philately in my opinion.

At the southern tip of the former Spanish protectorate of Morocco lies Cape Juby. That's at the level of the Canary Islands. A person of importance has an umbrella-bearer next to his horse. 1935

The adventures of Joseph Rouletabille, the investigative reporter, were told by the novelist Gaston Leroux (1868-1927). Part of a set of six stamps featuring heroes of crime novels. This hero looks as if he is fond of British fashion, even an umbrella.

The Erhard Strohm Company of Cannstatt manufactured fancy hats, umbrellas and walking sticks for gentlemen. The child has evidently borrowed a few of her father's things. Those hat boxes are collector's items nowadays and by the way, the company is still there, but they make more shoes than hats.
