Hey folks!
I am not a stamp collector, however I am in the process of organizing and archiving my family's old letters and photos. I came across this stamp on an old letter and I was wondering if it is rare? I'm having trouble counting the perforations and I don't know what the color difference is between rose red and carmine. Does anyone have any input?

This is an offset printed stamp as opposed to being engraved. It's perf 11. In the catalog it is listed as #528, type Va. Common stamp of the period.

Jane15q, welcome to the forum. One small piece of advice. The stamp may not be worth all that much, but sometimes the whole cover is. Best thing to do is do not destroy the covers by taking a common stamp off
