The Saint Helena Plover ( Charadrius sanctaehelenae) is locally known as the Wirebird because of its thin legs. Here is an image of a stamp depicting a Wirebird, engraved and printed by Thomas De La Rue & Co., Ltd., and issued for use in St. Helena on August 4, 1953, Scott No. 145, plus a photo of one of this wader species. - nethryk  |
