I think this is Die B, but I'm not sure. As the difference in catalogue value is significant (over $600), I thought I'd ask for help to make sure.

Thanks for looking!

It would be helpful if you supplied at least the ID of the stamp.
The Scan is poor also.(for ID)

Opinion: It is Die l

(Which still does not help, until you offer the Wmk, presuming it is the 6 piastre)

Does the rest of the stamp show a year in the cancel?

I say Die I.

It is Scott Die A/SG Die I. Scott and Gibbons are pretty different in points used for separating the dies. The length of the line on the neck is pretty definitive and is usually not covered by a cancel. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought Die B/Die II was clearly distinguished by a recut crown ornament (2nd from left). Die A/Die I has something that looks like an orb with a band of jewels, while Die B/Die II is just consecutive circles.

The cancel reads LARNACA; this is the Cyprus 6pi value. EDIT: post title indeed says Cyprus.

hy-brasil is on the money. Die 1 for sure.

The vertical line outlining the front of the throat stops at the 6th line in Die 1 and the 8th line in die 2.

Thanks for the responses - Die I is Gibbons, Die A is Scott?

I no longer have access to a Gibbons catalogue so I wondered what people who do might have to say.

Die l is Stanley Gibbons.
Bobby de la Rue's explanation is the easy ID. 6 lines on throat = Die l

Yes, seems so. I also think it's easy to see that the lines in the top right corner are not parallel, whereas with Die II I believe they should be.
