Harry... I dont know too much about US stamps, let alone officals and other back of book.
Why dont you go back to the auction, you won, and post a picture of the stamp described in that auction |

Harry,
There have been a few major disagreements between some of the SW Forum members (not me) and that seller.
That seller is known for listing stamps based on what he sees written in the album/stock he is breaking down. This has also been the cause of some "unhappiness". There are also some Forum members that regularly buy from him. (again, not me)
I do know that he honors all timely returns.
Please PM me on SW if you run into problems resolving this stamp.

Quote: Why dont you go back to the auction, you won, and post a picture of the stamp described in that auction Actually, the picture Harry showed is the stamp he bought. There is not enough resolution in the original auction picture to confirm the double transfer. It looks like Harry took a picture himself, concentrating on the area where the double transfer should be. Basically, we should normally see a "doubling" of the word CERTIFICATE. I would guess that Harry's concern is that there is no apparent/obvious doubling. This would be an example of a stamp that would have its value increased through certification. |

Here's an example of an authentic R8c double transfer (note the doubling of the word CERTIFICATE): Remember, the catalog price in Scott is for a sound VF copy with a clear double transfer of the ENTIRE word. Anything less than that has a very steep drop-off in retail value. |

...there is no double transfer on the stamp you have shown. I would contact the seller and return it.

OK, Bobgggg, now I understand. Sorry I didn't get it the first time! Based on the signature cancel, the stamp is the same. No switcheroo and no stock photos. The original picture in the auction is not of high enough resolution. There is no obvious double transfer, but because of poor resolution, there is not a guarantee that there is no weak double transfer. I don't buy from that seller because he has a habit of just writing down what the card/album says without really verifying anything, and then leaving it up to the buyer to confirm/return. I don't mind doing the ID, but I want a higher resolution scan to confirm first, not afterwards. He has his methods, I have my opinions -- result is I never bid on his items, regardless of how attractively priced some of them might be. k |

I'm not a rocket scientist, but picture one does not equal picture two! No how - no way! |

Thanks all for your support and thanks Kim for the scan and I think you know who this is so I'll leave it at that,I spoke with the seller and he has no problem if I return it also he said that he will give me credit for the next lot I buy ,I did ask him if I keep it (I still need an R8c) will he still give me a discount on the next lot of revenues as this works out better for me ,just waiting for his reply . |

The best way to obtain plate varieties for your collection is to discover unrecognized varieties in dealer stocks and also ebay. I've found many unrecognized plate varieties on ebay many, many times, most dirt cheap. When you buy a plate variety, someone else made the discovery. Stampmaster |
