I think this is a nice try here to tell everything is with grill, but it's "only" written on the card by someone...

indeed the 1c re-engraved stamp looks like having a grill, but it's not possible, is it?

must have been some grill faker there?

also another lot seems very interesting concerning the 1c Frankling 1851, what do you think there?

It could be the difference in my monitor, but the supposed 137 is a lighter shade of carmine than any of my 6 cent National Bank notes
The "139" is the opposite, it is darker than any 10 cent National bank note I have.

Here's a couple of pics of the stock book, all non grilled National Bank notes.

3¢, 6¢, & 10¢ National bank notes

10¢ Nationals

thank you both. nice bank note stamps, that would be fun to search for interesting cancels - is that an ultramarine cancel on one of the 6c stamps?

Possibly. Truth is that stock book is rather intimidating, all the shades and cancels and varieties of the low value bank notes, 1¢, 2¢ 3¢, 5¢, 6¢, & 10¢ from National's 145 (46) to American's 216 (796) a total of 4801 stamps if my count is right. I have had this hoard for the last 15 years and have never really had the ablum room to mount the color studies or cancels. Got side tracked collecting U. S. Officials.
