I thought these were pretty cool, so I thought I'd share them. Found them in a collection I was gifted. Might not be worth much, but they look nice, and they are my first Nova Scotia stamps to go in my Canada album. Yay for me!
I have the set of six. The five cent blue is much cheaper used than mint. The challenge is finding these stamps well centered and with clean perforations!
Very attractive stamps - among my favourite QV stamps from anywhere.
So this is the correct period for them...1860-63? When I found them, I thought they looked too fresh to be that old. And they're mint...although hinged, unfortunately.
I've been watching for a while for a mint 5 cent to upgrade the one I've owned for forty years. Could probably go directly to a couple of dealers I know to get one but it is an expensive stamp and VF specimens are not offered very often on ebay or other sites I follow.
The remainders of this issue were sold in 1895. Stanley Gibbons became the sole agent for their sale in Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia while Scott had the American market covered. Interesting to note there were no 5 cent stamps in the remainders.
