Overrun Countries - Is This An EFO On France?

Hi everyone!

Of course I've read that there are tons of errors which can be found within this series but I thought I'd ask about one I have in particular.

In this France (915) it appears to have an ink smudge running upwards through the word France and into the white of the flag.






Has anyone seen this before or know how this might've occurred?

Hi Twinvirgos. I have not seen this so I can not really give an opinion. But a collector in New York specializes in this series and its varieties. He is in the process of writing a set of books on each stamp in this set. Maybe you can contact him directly.

I find that I now have a number of these stamps, used and unused. They are a favorite series of mine, but I know nothing about there being many varieties of them. Can anyone educate me a little? Are there varieties that are easily seen with maybe a magnifier? Different perfs?
