Going through the small Upper Silesia collection I've inherited, surprised to see the very wide variations of the CGHS overprint on Scott O32-O50.

Vertical up, down, left to right, doubled, shifted... Read somewhere the overprint variations are not valuable, but certainly they are interesting! Thought they'd be worth sharing.

There are twenty varieties, incuding the normal horizontal overprint, listed in the Michel catalogue. 8 of them have no surcharge, 4 have 25% surcharge & the rest are 50% above catalogue price, which itself is barely above handling charge for most of the values.

Very comprehensive link, thank you. Lots of info on German related stamps at that site. That they were intentional explains why the double overprints and other variations are so common, and not rare.
