Hi. I'm Kirk, I work for Homeland Security.
Kidding, of course. Interesting question.

I would like to buy a stamp that costs around $5.00 but it would cost me over $20.00 to have it shipped to me in Canada directly from the seller in the U.S. I am looking for someone that has a U.S. p.o. address across the border who can mail it to me for less from their town in Canada. |

Will the seller mail it to a different address than is on the Paypal payment? Is it coming from ebay? Where would it have to be sent to? I only pick up my mail every 3 to 6 months at it is around 500 KM round trip for me |

I could also purchase it for you which might be easier but you will still have a delay getting it. |

JL I used to bring home truck loads of stuff from the US and much went to my street address by courier. The biggest reason I still keep it is that it is tied to my US bank account, US debit card, US Paypal account, and US ebay account. I don't have to pay surcharges to Paypal for exchange. I have all US deposits go into my US Paypal account and then transfer to my US bank. Hence why I only make the trip every 3 to 6 months especially at $1.10 + per litre for gas. I don't have a lot to pick up anymore for myself. I am going through all the stuff I bought previously now. |

dutchman1948: Thanks for letting me know. It would be most ideal from a border town due to convenience and time. |

jogil - why do you need the package sent to a Canadian? Couldn't any member in the US receive the stamp and mail it to you for the price of US international mail stamp? |

Or a US resident that is close to the border and goes to Canada regularly? They could get it and then mail it on a trip to Canada. |

My father and I used to have a PO in Madawaska, Maine and it is across an international bridge........when he died, I closed the PO as it became a big hassle to cross the border as agents were not always in their best uniform !!! I have not crossed my border since 9-11 but have crossed multiple times in my MH (motorhome)but not at my bordertown.
Recommendation: get it from a US forum member who will ship it to you at minimal cost but you have to know the member. Wish I could help in 2018 but not anymore

Jogil, I use a service in Mississauga that gives me a Niagara Falls Usa address, mainly have used for bigger items over the years but will be using it soon for some of my stamp purchases, due to the new shipping fees. They pick it up in the US daily and bring it back to Mississauga where I can pickup or they reship from inside Canada.
The one I use is crossborderpickups.ca but there are others that offer similar services.
Hope this helps. |

Problem reminds me of a certain website's ridiculous Global Shipping Program, making common stamps unaffordable. |
