You're not alone, stamps73. I don't have an icon either. And, welcome to the Forum. |

My goal is to start work on exhibiting my 3c Prexie covers.
I collect covers with the Prexie 3c Jefferson, most of which are advertising covers. My son had suggested that I try putting together a display or an exhibit of the covers to share with others the beauty of the advertising covers. However, I had constantly hesitated, until now.
Thanks to all the wonderful suggestions and words of encouragement when I requested for advice in the US Covers thread, I have started work on 2 exhibits - a traditional usage exhibit, which I intend to do competitively, and a non-competitive exhibit that uses the advertising covers to tell a story.
For the traditional usage exhibit, I have started reading up on the different postal services, rates and auxiliary markings, as well as identify gaps that need to be plugged. As for the other exhibit, I am still thinking of a suitable storyline and narrative.
I am not too overly ambitious as age is catching up. I don't intend to complete everything this year. My aim is to complete at least the traditional usage exhibit next year and enter it in a show, and dedicate it to my late wife (wow, I already have my goal for next year!).

After 10year's absence from stamp collecting and moving twice, I have a lot to do. I've also decided to be a "world wide collector" just for the joy of it.
Goals 2018
1. Get organized 2. finish the Stamp Cave (my stamp room) 3. Mount Hungary and Spain on Steinar pages or similar 4. Start exchange stamps (need to get organized first) 5. Sell some stamps and postcards (you don't need everything) 6. Train more. Have 3 bicycles, they need to get rolling :) |

Continue to find ways to spend a bit more time on stamps.
This forum has been a very nice way to spend a few minutes here and there, with some high value returns (in enjoyment) on my time. Now I want to spend some more time with my books and stamps. |

Since 2018 started ,I have reduced about 10% of all those bulk lots that I been holding for years . I shipped off to a major auction firm five banker boxes of stuff that just doesn't fit in my albums or stuff that comes as filler when you buy larger lots . Wife is happy to see it go out the door .She is waiting for the check to come ......ha...ha.....I told the auction firm to just put it into my account and hold it for the next auction .
Now what I buy are the specialty collections something that expands my WW collection and there is some great stuff floating around ,this is stuff that would be a hard sell if not impossible to sell on the internet. Last year I spend all my money on the Stan Richards German Colonies lots that he flooded the market with at Kelleher Auctions .Watch that stuff for many years but the prices were always painful to the pocket and then in one year the market place was hit with a over kill and it depressed prices for the huge amount of stuff all at once .This year going to put all the German Colonies stuff on Steiner pages and sell off the duplicates . |
