The post office operated in Columbiana County, as noted. According to the Gallagher/Patera book on Ohio post offices, the PO operated 1882-1893, with service to New Waterford, though the index gives a 1903 date. The 1985 Columbiana County po listing in the Ohio Postal History Journal (issue #32) indicates a second Mosk post office, which operated 1893-1902, with mail service to Columbiana. |

Map of Columbiana County, Ohio from the "Rand McNally & Company's New Large Scale Indexed Commercial and Statistical Map of Ohio", New Edition, 1909 - a huge colorful 4' x 4' map! Mosk is just above the first A of "Columbiana". In larger perspective, Pennsylvania is directly adjacent to the east, and the tip of Hancock County West Virginia is at the SE of Columbiana County, OH. |

According to Wikipedia: Middleton was among the first settlements made in Fairfield Township. A variant name of Middleton was Mosk. The Mosk post office was established in 1882, and remained in operation until 1902 |

March 20, 1882 Postal Bulletin: announces establishment of Mosk, Ohio office. March 21, 1883 PB: notes Joseph Kannel appointed as postmaster. October 17, 1893 PB: Mosk discontinued effective October 31, 1893 with mail going to New Waterford.
January 6, 1894 PB: Mosk reestablished on December 19, 1893. December 17, 1901 PB: Mosk discontinued effective January 31, 1902 to become RFD of Columbiana. (It was very typical in the 1896-1910 range for rural counties to lose 1/3 to 1/2 of their post offices to the creation of RFD routes.) |
